What do you think about this collection of lesson plans? http://www.nytimes.com/learning/index.html - spend some time exploring this site and let's talk about it in class on Monday.
I love the lesson plans I looked at from this site. I was happy to find some math ones - often, math is left out or tacked on as a second thought. I especially liked the poker one!
Wow. So many to choose from and all with plenty of support in the form of online links. I like how they all include content standards and interdisciplinary information.
Thoughts about our visit to K-O? I was pretty amazed that teaching was not based upon any research.. It shocked me that differentiated learning was a term they'd never heard of (though they are doing it instinctively anyway, I believe). I will absolutely take them up on a classroom observation to see what they're doing. As I was driving home last night, I considered that many of the strategies and concepts we are learning about have been around in one form or another, then tweaked, and released with a new buzzword name. Thoughts??
Good point, Nancy. Do we need a label for something we should be doing instinctively anyway? It reminded me of the "Thinking Stick" guy's views on technology as something that is inserted not as an afterthought, but should be just another tool we have in our repertoire. It should be instinctive as well.

Sorry all, but I need to submit this test comment as I had a bit of a mixup with my book group blog. See y'all tonight!
